Verbal tussle turns violent

Christell Fatima M. Tudtud - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines – A drunken man stabbed his drinking buddy Sunday night after a verbal argument ensued between them in Sitio C.Y. Potot, Barangay Babag in Lapu-Lapu City.

The suspect, Frank Allarse, 59, reportedly stabbed Joffre Borinagan, 27. They are both residents of the same barangay.

Initial investigation made by Police Officer 3 Luisito Ernie of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office Homicide Section revealed that around 8:45 in the evening, Borinagan, together with his friends and Allarse, were having a drinking spree.

In the middle of sharing alcoholic drinks, the two then figured into a serious verbal disagreement that made Allarse irked, leading to stab Borinagan with the use of a bladed weapon.

Borinagan was hit in the middle part of his stomach. He was immediately rushed to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center while the suspect was immediately arrested by the responding officers.

The suspect is temporary detained in the prison cell of the police station. Police will file appropriate charges against Cabalhug after the incident.
