Council asks P2.7M farm-to-market road fund
CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City Council is asking Mayor Johnny De los Reyes to allocate P2.7 million for the farm-to-market road to lower the transportation costs of farmers in three sitios in Barangay Pooc.
The road is traversing through Sitios Libo, Cabutoy and Dapdap in Barangay Pooc.
City Councilor Doroteo S. Emit, a former barangay captain in Pooc, said the road is expected to spur development in the area with easier and faster transport of farm products produced by the farmers in the area to markets.
"The concreting of the road will provide ease in transporting of goods from farms, products for business establishments, as well as the daily commute of the people," Emit said.
Emit added that the road traversing through Sitios Libo, Cabutoy and Dapdap is gravely dilapidated and dotted with pot holes making it uncomfortable for pedestrians, motorists and commuters alike, especially during rainy days.
Emit said there is an allocation for farm to market roads in the City's Annual Budget. He said the amount of concreting of road in three sitios will only cost P2,756,411.52. (FREEMAN)
