CEBU, Philippines- A trisikad driver was stabbed by his passenger who allegedly refused to pay his fare on Sunday evening in Sitio Zone Kasag, Barangay Kalawisan, Lapu-Lapu City.

The victim, who owns the pedicab, was identified as Arman Quirante, 32, resident of the barangay, while the suspect was a certain Ramie Tampus.

Initial investigation led by Police Officer 2 Joseph Cutanda of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office-Homicide Section revealed that the incident happened around 9:30 p.m. after Tampus boarded on Quirante's trisikad at the corner of the barangay.

When the trisikad driven by Quirante reached Zone Lato, a verbal disagreement sparked between the two allegedly leading Tampus to show his Batangas knife and stab Quirante, hitting him on the left portion of his body.

The suspect tried to flee from the crime scene but Quirante chased him and immediately asked for help from witnesses.

The victim was rushed to Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital and was later transferred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

Responding police officers arrested Tampus who is now in jail.
