Man shot at doorstep

CEBU, Philippines - A 35-year-old man is now critical in hospital after shot in the forehead by an unidentified man outside his house in Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday dawn.

Erwin Alferez, jobless, a resident of Purok Bigay, Sitio Kagudoy, Barangay Basak, was rushed to Mactan Doctor's Hospital after he sustained a gunshot wound in his forehead from an undetermined caliber of firearm.

Police investigation conducted by homicide police led by Senior Police Officer 2 Manolito Abellanosa revealed that moments prior to the incident, the victim together with his wife, was watching television around 12:35 yesterday dawn when they heard the front portion of their house stoned.

The victim stepped outside to find out what was going on, but victim's wife Maritha heard gunfire and upon checking outside, she saw her husband already blooded in the head.  The victim was then rushed by an ambulance to the hospital.

Police believed that the motive of the incident has something to with illegal drugs after the wife told the police that his husband was hooked on illegal drugs and that somebody was holding a grudge on him. (FREEMAN)
