Man found dead
CEBU, Philippines - A man who jumped into the seawaters off Sitio Turil, Barangay Canjulao, Lapu-Lapu City was reported dead Sunday morning.
The victim was identified as Joselito Dico Jr., 22, a resident of Purok Bombshell, Barangay Babag 1. He works as a delivery boy in one of the water-refilling stations in the city.
Initial investigation conducted by Police Officer 2 John Carlo Jocutan of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office revealed that a certain Sponsorio Belmacio, 65, who lives in Sitio Turil, saw Dico and two of his friends drinking at the seaside around 1 o'clock in the morning.
According to Jocutan, the victim was under the influence of alcohol when he jumped on the waters about nine feet deep.
Jocutan added that a fisherman, Danny Aldarte, 44, who was fishing around the area, saw a floating body believed to be Dico's.
The fisherman immediately tried to rescue him and brought him back to the shoreline hoping that he will regain his life but to no avail.
The victim was rushed to the Lapu-Lapu District Hospital where he was proclaimed dead on arrival. (FREEMAN)
