Fake bills circulating
CEBU, Philippines - A man was arrested for paying fake P500 bill to a taxi driver while another woman also complained that she received a fake P500 bill as change from a taxi driver who brought her to a mall at the North Reclamation Area Sunday afternoon.
Mark Jordan Bernal, 23, and a resident of Barangay Humay-humay, Lapu-Lapu City was arrested by Police Officer 1 Johndel Senerpida after he was complained by a taxi driver that he used a fake P500 bill in paying for his taxi fare Sunday morning.
Inside the Centro Police Station, three additional fake P500 bills were seized from him after a body search.
The suspect is presently detained at the Centro Police station pending the filing of appropriate charges against him.
Police also conducted an operation against a taxi driver whose taxi's plate number bears GXW with a body number of #1399 after a certain Chiela Mae Bentulan, 23, of Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City complained to the Subangdaku Police that the driver gave her fake P500 bill together with the P250 bill for change.
She only learned the bill was fake when upon shopping, a cashier inside a mall told her so.
She immediately reported the incident to the police who are still conducting a follow-up with regard to the identity of the taxi driver.
