Assailants on bike shoot man

A 68-year-old man was shot dead by motorcycle-riding gunmen in Barangay Lawaan I, Talisay City while on the way to his house Tuesday night.

The victim was identified as Roman Hermosad, who sustained severe gunshot wounds in different parts of his body. He was declared dead on arrival at the Talisay City District Hospital.

Senior Police Officer 1 Mikie Espina said the victim came from Barangay Tabunok and rode a tricycle driven by Leo Sollano Delima heading towards his house.

"The assailants already tailed the victim and, seeing the opportunity, they shot him several times," Espina said.

According to the police, the victim was also armed with .45 caliber pistol with seven live ammunitions but failed to return fire as he was hit first.

Police recovered seven empty shells of .9mm caliber and one slug. Espina said the motive could be personal grudge, however, they are not discounting any other possibility yet. —  (FREEMAN)
