Cops nab robbers in follow-up
CEBU, Philippines - Two suspects were arrested after stealing properties in East Ampalaya Village, Barangay Gun-ob in Lapu-Lapu City after police authorities initiated follow-up operation on Tuesday in the same place.
The suspects were identified as Jay Noel and Ace Inihao who are both residents in the same place while the victim was identified as Vina Marie Hendrickson, 22, who is the owner of the robbed house in Barangay Gun-ob.
Hendrickson said they were having their vacation in Bantayan Island since May 22 and went home on Tuesday afternoon together with her foreigner husband.
This was after finding out the picture frame with her photo in it was recovered along with the clothes, bed sheets, small divider and small decoratives in the scene.
Police Senior Inspector Juan Capacio of Lapu-Lapu City police Office - Crimes Against Property Desk said that a couple have sought their help by personally approaching the office around 5:40 p.m. after they have discovered that their house was in a state of disarray in the said village.
Capacio said, based on their initial investigation that when the victim arrived in their house, they were shocked that their appliances were gone and the dresser inside of their room left a burnt residue.
The victim said the suspects are attempting to burn the dresser.
Hendrickson said that their personal belongings were stolen such as 4 air cons worth 80, 000 pesos, 1 flat screen TV worth P24,000, DVD player worth P5,000, a refrigerator worth P15,000, two water heaters worth P16,000, stove and gas tank worth P3,000, a bike worth P3,000, rice cooker worth P4,000 as as well as the couple's bank passbook worth P10,000, a small TV worth P3,000, assorted clothes, jewelry worth P10, 000.
A total of P276,000 was stolen by the thieves. (FREEMAN)
