Girl's molester falls in Cordova chase
CEBU, Philippines - A 54-year-old man was arrested by the police for allegedly sexually molesting his five-year-old neighbor in Barangay Bangbang, Cordova Sunday morning.
Ronald Fernandez was arrested in a hot pursuit operation Monday following the complaint of the victim at the police station who was accompanied by her mother.
Senior Inspector Alexander Nuñez, Cordova police chief, said the incident happened Sunday morning when the victim was alone at their house. Police, however, could not relate what happened because the girl could not narrate what happened.
"Na-notice na lang na sa mama nga murag nagluya nga nagreklamo sa iyang private parts," Nuñez said in a phone interview, adding that the girl was taken to an abandoned house nearby where she was molested.
The mother was not around at that time for she was doing laundry services at a neighbor.
The mother arrived home past 2:00p.m.and it was this point when the girl told her mother that she was sexually abused by Fernandez prompted them to report to the police.
The complainant accompanied by the Women's and Children's Protection Desk officer went to the house of Fernandez but the latter was no longer around.
"Nakadagan na man so ni-coordinate ang police sa barangay officials kay kaila man sila mao to nadakpan gyud," Nuñez said.
He added that Fernandez was not under the influence of liquor at that time. He also does not have pending charges in court.
Fernandez was detained at the police stockade as rape charges was filed against him yesterday at the Cebu Provincial Prosecutor's Office. (FREEMAN)
