Mandaue Brgy Councilors: New league officers sworn into office
CEBU, Philippines - Looc Barangay Councilman Raul Kevin Cabahug and other officials of the Barangay Councilors' League of the Philippines Mandaue City Chapter were sworn into office yesterday during a simple ceremony at the Mandaue City Session Hall.
Yesterday's oath-taking ceremony was administered by Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes.
The 29-year-old Cabahug was elected in a recent BCLP-Mandaue City election wherein he garnered 120 votes against his cousin-opponent Elmer Cabahug, also a Looc councilman, who got 48 votes.
Now that he is the new BCLP-Mandaue City president, Cabahug said he will push for more benefits for the barangay councilors, especially that they do not even have their health insurances.
He said since there is already an Association of Barangay Council at the City Hall, he will also ask Mayor Cortes their own BCLP office at the City Hall so barangay councilors can have a venue where they could raise their concerns. (FREEMAN)
