Guard kills self

CEBU, Philippines - A security guard was found bathed in his own blood after he allegedly committed suicide while on duty Monday morning in a noodle factory in Purok Lemonsito, Barangay Umaplad, Mandaue City.

Rodolfo Vistal, 20, with live-in partner and temporarily living in Barangay Umapad but a native of Inabanga, Bohol, was found lifeless inside the premises of Golden Chua Co Noodle Corporation at around 5:20 a.m. by his fellow security guard Jason Pogado.

Vistal was a security guard of the Centurion Security Agency.

Police investigation revealed that Pogado heard a lone gunshot and when he came to check, he saw his fellow security guard slumped towards the floor which prompted him to immediately shout for help.

Workers immediately rushed Vistal to the Cortes General Hospital but he was declared dead on arrival by an attending physician. A lone gunshot wound was found on his head.

At the crime scene, police were able to recover the victim's cellphone. One of the sent items on the phone, sent 3:18 a.m. that day, said "A.M. Ti bye na."

Recovered also at the crime scene was the victim's service firearm, a .38 caliber revolver believed to have been used to kill himself.

Police are yet to conduct a further investigation as to the real reason why the victim has committed suicide.
