Metropolice: Guard stabbed

CEBU, Philippines - A security guard is in critical condition after he was stabbed by two unidentified teenagers yesterday dawn on M.L. Quezon Street in Barangay Cabancalan, Mandaue City.

Security guard Arnel Capuno, 32, married, from Compostela, was stabbed 2 a.m. He was detailed in one of the establishments along the same street where the incident happened and is employed by Dragon Heart Security Agency.

 Senior Police Officer 4 Fernando Gabutero of the Casuntingan Police Station said the victim was sitting on a bench while he was on duty that time when the two teenagers approached him and, without any provocation, stabbed him with the use of a kitchen knife hitting him in his left chest.

Both suspects hurriedly fled the place.

The victim, who was able to shout for help, was immediately rushed by nearby security guards to the Gullas Hospital in Barangay Banilad, Cebu City.

Gabutero said they have yet to determine the cause of crime but believed it could have been just for thrill or revenge.

"Duha ra gyud ang motibo ana — paregla kung dili naay nakontra ang security guard (There can only be two motives. Either the guard was a victim of thrill-seeking or had misunderstanding with the suspects)," Gabutero said. (FREEMAN)
