Robber nabbed, thanks to dogs
CEBU, Philippines - The dogs' howling led to the arrest of one of two robbers in Sitio Kasanta, Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City.
Police nabbed Benjie Siasar, 31, single and with live-in partner, who currently resides in Barangay Barrio Luz, Cebu City. Siasar is said to be an ex-convict to a homicide case and was jailed for eight years in Muntinlupa City.
A certain "Berson" was able to elude arrest. He is also a resident of Barrio Luz.
Police Chief Inspector Conrado Manatad of Lapu-Lapu City Station 2 said around 11:30 last night, the victims Julmay Cuevas, 19, and Nonabel Pitogo, 20, were on board a public utility jeepney when the two suspects declared "hold-up."
After the crime, the two immediately disembarked the vehicle and fled.
When authorities responded, Siasar holed up in the bushes and allegedly changed his clothes. He was, however, unlucky as dogs in the area continued to bark at him, causing him to emerge from the grasses.
Siasar was positively identified by the victims while Berson succeeded in escaping. (FREEMAN)
