Food Festival set for April 21
CEBU, Philippines - The Food Festival which started way back 2001 as an attraction in "Kadaugan sa Mactan" is set to be held on April 21, according to Lapu-Lapu City Tourism Head Hembler Mendoza.
It will commence at 5:30 in the afternoon and end at 10:00 in the evening.
A welcome message for the public will be delivered by the Mayor Paz Radaza to be followed by the blessing of the food. The declaration for the opening of the event will then proceed.
For the festival’s second stint, there will be a presentation coming from the Department of Education to expose their creativity in staging the program. The staging for branding, said Mendoza, will be called as "On the Ground" project.
The food festival will be participated by big establishments such as resort hotels, suites and restaurants namely, Alta Cebu Resort, BE Resorts Mactan, Cebu White Sands Beach Resort and Spa, Costabella Beach Resort, Crimson Resort and Spa, Days Hotel Mactan, EGI Resort and Hotel, El Sueño Restaurant.
Also joining are Eloisa Royal Suites, Goldberry Suites and Hotel, Imperial Palace Waterpark and Spa, Kaishu Japanese Restaurant, Maribago Bluewaters Beach Resort and Spa, Movenpick Hotel, Plantation Bay Resort and Spa, Shangri-La Resort Hotel and Spa and Vistamar/ Soto Grande. The Golden Prince Hotel, a Cebu City based hotel suite is also joining the festival.
A total of 21 small establishments are also on the list to participate in this prominent event. According to Mendoza, the food that will be presented in the event will cost P99.
Councilor Harry Don Radaza, co-chairman of the Lapu-Lapu Tourism and Historical Affairs Commission, also added that the cooking utensils, such as knives, should be handled responsibly and should be used within the food stalls.
The sharp tips of barbecue sticks are also advised to be cut off to avoid trouble. The use of plastic spoons and forks is highly recommended.
The Food Festival will end on April 26. Other big activities and events are expected to happen within the Kadaugan Sa Mactan weeklong affair. (FREEMAN)
