Women's livelihood to keep running
CEBU, Philippines - The city government of Lapu-Lapu will continue its program to provide livelihood to women who formed themselves into associations or cooperatives.
Jimmy Glomar, head of the Lapu-Lapu City Cooperative Resource and Livelihood Center, said that City Mayor Paz Radaza directed him to make sure the success of the program that benefits women from the different barangays of Lapu-Lapu.
In a previous dialog with the different associations and cooperatives, Mayor Radaza said the city government has set aside allocations for the implementation of livelihood project.
Aside from women's associations and cooperatives, the mayor also wanted the livelihood program to benefit those who avail of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program of the national government.
Last week, a trade fair was held in Lapu-Lapu City where different associations and cooperatives showed their products to the public.
Meanwhile, still in Lapu-Lapu City, Mayor Radaza said she issued a directive to the City Engineering Office to make some adjustments to the implementation of the city road improvement and widening projects.
The mayor said she wanted the city-sponsored road projects to be delayed a bit to give way to the completion of the national government-sponsored projects, particularly on the Mactan Circumferential Road.
Radaza told reporters that the road concreting projects on the Mactan Circumferential Road has caused inconvenience to the public. Most of those who complained were owners of the different hotels and resorts in Barangays Maribago and Marigondon.
"Kon dili pa mahuman kining Mactan Circumferential Road unya ato sad nga sugdan kining projects nato sa city, musamot ang problema sa atong mga katawhan," said Mayor Radaza.
