Maid arrested for pilfering P100T worth of jewelry
CEBU, Philippines - A 42-year-old housemaid Rhodora Cortez was arrested for stealing the jewelry owned by Alberta Parel of Busay Heights, Nivel Hills in Barangay Busay, Cebu City.
Parel alleged that her personal jewelry, such as Def necklace with gold pendant and Def lady's ring approximately worth P100,000, were lost.
Parel's personal driver informed her that he had discovered a receipt of Cebuana Lhuillier Pawnshop inside the room of Cortez, Parel's housemaid.
The victim allegedly kept the receipt and reported to the police to show for evidence.
Personnel from Investigation, Detection and Management Branch (IDMB) of Cebu City Police Office gathered information and escorted the victim to the suspect's residence in Barangay Poblacion 2, Malabuyoc town.
The suspect did not deny the allegation; instead, she located the said jewelry items inside her room, which led to her arrest.
Meanwhile, a 30-year-old Renante Bacalla of Beverly Hills in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City was robbed by an unidentified person last Monday.
Bacalla said that an unknown suspect took his Apple Iphone5 worth P30,000; gold necklace with gold cross pendant worth $2,200 and one unit of Samsung Galaxy phone worth P12,000.
The victim alleged that the suspect entered his house by climbing through the wall at the 2nd floor and entered the sliding window which was left unlocked.
The Crime Scene Investigation Unit of CCPO is now conducting a follow-up operation for possible identity and apprehension of the suspect/s. — (FREEMAN)
