To address traffic woes, city traffic system in Lapu needs upgrade
CEBU, Philippines - The city government of Lapu-Lapu needs funds to modernize its city traffic system in order to address the woes caused by traffic congestion.
The City Traffic Management System (CTMS), which implements plans and programs to improve the flow of traffic in the city streets, made its recommendation to modernize traffic signal system.
That some of the city traffic signals are still non-functional prompted the CTMS to deploy traffic enforcers.
City Mayor Paz Radaza admitted that the city needs funds for the implementation of the program based on the recommendation made by the CTMS. She, however, assured that it is one of the priority projects under her administration.
The city council, in support to Radaza's plans, has passed a resolution requesting the Department of Public Works and Highways to allocate funds for the same purpose, while another request has also been forwarded to the Department of Transportation and Communication.
Vice Mayor Marcial Ycong and members of the city council are hoping that the said request will gain positive response from two government offices concerned. (FREEMAN)
