Job order worker faces dismissal

Brenda Batuto - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A job order employee of the Talisay city government who allegedly poked a gun to his fellow workers is facing possible suspension or dismissal from work.

Commotions broke the office of Fishermen Sea and Ecological Care (FISECA) in Barangay Cansojong last week after Ritchie Roritos, a job order employee detailed in the said office reportedly poked a gun to Herminigildo Villegas and Joel Vega.

Roritos is reportedly assigned to the care of Arturo Aras, while Villegas and Vega, are both detailed to the care of  Gregorio dela Torre.

City Councilor Antonio “Jojo” Bacaltos, Jr., chairman of the committee on environment, told reporters that Mayor Johnny de los Reyes is already aware of the infighting among FISECA office’s job order personnel.

Delos Reyes already attempted to settle the feud by calling a meeting between two factions in the FISECA office, he said.

Bacaltos said the mayor has already ordered members of FISECA to hold office in a single office, further ordering personnel from its fishport office in Barangay Tanke to report back to its original headquarters in Barangay Cansojong.

He said the mayor issued the said order after Dela Torre was reinstalled as head of FISECA after Aras was subjected to complaints filed by the fisherfolks to the City Hall.

Bacaltos clarified that personnel of FISECA are not allowed to bring gun.

He said he will conduct investigation of the incident and will call for a meeting with the committee to discuss the problem.

Bacaltos added that if Roritos is proven to have carried a gun and used it to threaten his fellow job order employees, he will surely be punished with suspension or dismissal.  (FREEMAN)
