Disaster council approves budget

CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City Risk Reduction Disaster and Management Council has approved the P29.5M budget for its management plan this year.

Vincie Monterde, Talisay City Public Information Officer and chairman of CRRDMC, told The Freeman programs that have allocations in the budget are ready to be implemented such as the rehabilitation and construction of evacuation centers.

Schools, barangay halls, churches, and sports complexes are commonly used as evacuation centers.

Also getting an allocation is an area for evacuees at barangay Maghaway, Monterde said.

Meanwhile, residents in areas prone to floods and landslides have been told to be vigilant.

Monterde said barangay officials are encouraged to remind constituents to be prepared at all times. (FREEMAN)
