Man found dead; two guards being probed
CEBU, Philippines - Two security guards are being investigated in connection with the death of a man whose body was found yesterday along the seashore in barangay Labogon, Mandaue City.
Ronie Alvarado, of Zone Sibuyas, barangay Pakna-an, Mandaue City was already dead when found by security guards of Unilink Shipyard.
Police believed Alvarado could have been dragged to the seashore considering that traces of blood were found inside the shipyard.
A shotgun is presumed to have been used to kill Alvarado who sustained wounds in the head, face, and neck.
PO3 Marino Lofranco said the police have learned that a security guard from Unilink Shipyard who was only identified through his name tag as a certain “Academia†had left his post even though his reliever had not yet arrived. He said the police are looking for this security guard.
Security guards of Jomalia Shipping Corp. namely Jose Fernando Cabahug and Moises Sambrana, 40, of Pinamungajan, Cebu alleged they heard gunshots at around 2:00 a.m. but said they disregarded it until they found a dead body in the sea near the shipyard.
Police saw traces of blood under a fence of the Unilink Shipping property.
They went inside the area and found a compressor tank stained with blood and traces of blood on the ground, which indicated that Alvarado could have been shot there and later dragged to the sea.
The police have theorized that Alvarado intruded into the shipyard and was shot.
PO3 Lofranco said the body could not have been dragged into the water by just one person, so Sambrana and Cabahug were invited for investigation.
A paraffin test will be conducted on the two security guards while their service firearms will be examined to determine whether these were used in the crime. (FREEMAN)
