Talisay's new ABC head sworn into office
CEBU, Philippines - The newly elected president of the Association of Barangay Councils in Talisay City was sworn into office yesterday afternoon by first district Representative Gerald Anthony "Samsam" Gullas.
Barangay Bulacao Captain Raul Cabañero emerged winner with 12 votes while his opponent Barangay Linao Captain Ofelia Ylanan garnered 10 votes.
Talisay City is composed of 22 barangays.
The oathtaking was held at the University of the Visayas and witnessed by Cabañero's wife Belen and daughter Wendy Mae Sevilleno.
Cabañero joined the Talisay City council's regular session yesterday as an ex-officio member.
Cabañero said that before proposing any measure, he would consult barangay captains.
He said he would like to push for the construction of a building for the ABC the fact that it doesn't have its own office.
Every time it meets, ABC members gather at the mayor's office or at the session hall. — (FREEMAN)
