No bonus in sight for Talisay temps

Brenda Batuto - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines -  Temporary or job order workers employed by the Talisay City government will definitely have a bleak Christmas this year because city hall has failed to prepare a budget for them.

Talisay City Budget Officer Edgar Mabunay said there is no law that makes it mandatory for city hall to give bonuses to job orders.

The mayor can be magnanimous if there is available cash but as of now, the cash needed remains elusive, he said.

City hall has more than 2,000 job orders in its employ but starting this month the number will be trimmed down.

The city will set aside more than P3 million every month for their salaries.  (FREEMAN)
