Mandaue marks mechanical engineering week Monday
CEBU, Philippines - For the first time, the City of Mandaue and the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers-Mandaue Chapter will jointly celebrate the first Mechanical Engineering Week starting Monday.
Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes has declared October 14-18 this year and every year thereafter as Mechanical Engineering Week.
The declaration was based on Executive Order No. 18 signed by Cortes last September 30.
More than 200 Mechanical Engineers are members of the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers headed by its president Joe Arib.
In his declaration, Cortes said the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers is the only integrated and accredited organization of Mechanical Engineers by the Board of Mechanical Engineering in accordance to Section 23 of Republic Act 8495, an act regulating the practice of Mechanical Engineering in the country.
The city mayor said mechanical engineers are partners in nation building and development.
