18-yr-old arrested for robbing tourist

CEBU, Philippines - An 18-year-old man was arrested in Mandaue City after he was caught by a barangay tanod robbing a Chinese tourist last Thursday night.

The victim, Wang Jin Ming, 20, was standing along L. Jayme Street in Barangay Bakilid past 9 p.m. when the suspect, Jinery Arojado, 18, approached him and declared a hold-up while pointing an ice pick.

The victim immediately handed over his HTC mobile phone valued at P20,000 to the suspect but tanod Ricardo Pilago who was patrolling the area saw what happened and immediately arrested Arojado.

At the Subangdaku Police Station, authorities recovered the victim’s phone and an ice pick from Arojado.

Robbery charges are now being prepared against the suspect. –/JMO (FREEMAN)
