Talisay seeks Sen. C. Villar’s “Hanep Buhay”
CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City council has asked Senator Cynthia Villar to extend her “Hanep Buhay†program to the city’s fishermen and farmers.
City Councilor Antonio D. Bacaltos, Jr. said
it is the inherent duty of the local government to find ways and means to meet the priority need of the constituents and most basic of these needs is to ensure the availability of livelihood.
Bacaltos is the chairman of the committee on Agriculture and Aquatic Resources and the Committee on Environmental Protection, Wildlife Ecology & Natural Resources Management.
“The source of income of fishermen and farmers needs to be augmented in as much as their source of living is not always stable and is dependent on natures seasonal changes,†Bacaltos said.
Bacaltos said to teach farmers and fishermen acquire new skills will certainly ensure them of an alternative source of income when the need arises. (FREEMAN)
