In Talisay City Rock, loose soil bury four houses

Brenda Batuto - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Four houses were buried while two others were partially damaged as a big rock and loose soil rolled down a slope the other day in sitio Tangub, barangay Lagtang, Talisay City.

But a resident of the place informed city Councilor Danny Caballero only yesterday afternoon.

Caballero, who went to the place after receiving the report, said the victims are temporarily staying at the bunk house owned by road builder QM Builder.

Presently, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is widening a road in the place and QM Builder is the contractor for the project.

The owners of the four houses that were buried by the loose soil were identified as Irish Baculi, 26, and her sister Mylene Baculi, 30, Kristita Vita, 55, and Agnes Mangcao, 26.

The house that was hit by a big rock was owned by Adelina Cabuenas, 53.

Another house that was partially buried is owned by Suzette Cancerna.

Caballero said no one was reported injured.

Although no one has blamed the accident on the ongoing road project, QM Builder has promised to shoulder the repair of the damaged houses and the owners compensated for the hassle.

Caballero said he has urged victims to seek help from his office. (FREEMAN)
