CEBU, Philippines - A jeepney conductor was stabbed dead Wednesday evening while arguing with a passenger who allegedly had failed to pay his fare.

Bobby Luna, 44, of barangay Opao, Mandaue City was arrested by Special Weapons and Tactics personnel and taken to Centro Police station.

The fatality was identified as Edmund Encular, 30, of Barili, Cebu.

Police said Encular demanded payment from Luna who got off at a gasoline station in barangay Centro.

But Luna insisted he had already paid.

After an exchange of words, Encular fled with Luna chasing him.

When Luna caught up with him, he stabbed Encular on the chest.

A SWAT team saw Luna walking casually along S. B. Cabahug Street in barangay Centro.

He was taken to the Mandaue City Hospital for a liquor test.

Luna is currently detained at the Centro Police station.  (FREEMAN)
