Three Talisay CH departments ask for service cars

Garry B. Lao - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Three department offices have each asked Talisay City Mayor Johnny De los Reyes for a vehicle.

Councilor Doroteo S. Emit, chairman of the committee on labor, trade and industry, said the business permits and license section, city assessor’s office, and the city engineering department are in dire need of vehicles.

The business permits and license section, tasked to inspect newly established businesses, regularly monitor business operations, as well as serve warrants and notices to unlicensed businesses who fail to pay taxes to the city, needs a vehicle to be efficient.

Also, the Local Government Code of 1991 defines as one of the duties and functions of the Office of the City Assessor to conduct frequent physical surveys to verify and determine whether all properties within the City are properly listed in the assessment rolls.

Emit also said the City Assessor’s Office and the city engineering office deserve to have vehicles.

“The availability of a service vehicle for mobilization of monitoring personnel is vital to effectively and efficiently carry out their duties,” Emit said. (FREEMAN)
