Lapu-Lapu traffic body introduces new system
CEBU, Philippines - Starting August 5, public utility vehicles will start serving commuters who are bound for the different barangays in Lapu-Lapu City and those bound for Mandaue and Cebu Cities at the newly-opened terminal at the Gaisano Mall in barangay Pajo, a statement from the Lapu-Lapu CTMS board said.
The move is designed to minimize inconveniencing the riding public especially those bound for barangay Pusok, Ibo, Buaya, Mactan, Punta Engano, Maribago.
What’s more, the scheme also benefits passengers bound for Mandaue and Cebu cities.
CTMS board officials said the opening of terminal 2 inside the Gaisano Island Mall will also decrease the number of vehicles passing at the foot of the Mandaue-Mactan Bridge.
But still pujs can still continue to pick-up passengers at the Public Utility Termnial 1 in front of the General Milling Corporation.
To fully implement the new rerouting scheme, jeepneys travelling from Lapu-Lapu to Mandaue will also follow a color-coding scheme.
Jeepneys with the blue color can pick up passengers during Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at the terminal 1 in front of GMC.
While on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays they can pick up passengers at terminal 2 at Gaisano Island mall.
The red color indicates they can pick up passengers on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays at terminal 2 (Gaisano Island mall) while on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at terminal 2 (in front of GMC). (FREEMAN)
