CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City Councilor Danilo Caballero, chairman of the city sports commission, is seeking financial assistance from the provincial government for the development of the city’s sports program.

Caballero is asking for P500,000 from Governor Hilario Davide III, P300,000 from Vice-Governor Agnes Magpale, and P250,000 each from provincial board members Julian Daan and Raul Alcoseba.

Caballero said the financial assistance will also be used for the purchase of sports equipment.

“It is the policy of the City of Talisay to promote and sustain the development of sports to foster physical fitness, self-discipline, teamwork and excellence for the development of a healthy and alert citizenry,” Caballero said.

Caballero said part of the assistance will also be used in the celebration of its annual fiesta on October 15 when a series of sports activities will be held.

“There is also a need to create and develop sports programs to be implemented in different barangays of the City of Talisay. As part of this development, acquisition of additional and new sports equipment is necessary,” Caballero said. (FREEMAN)
