CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City government has asked the Department of Education (DepEd) Talisay City Division to produce the resumes of teachers who were removed from their jobs.

More than 20 teachers had sought help from Mayor Johnny De los Reyes after losing their jobs in schools.

As alleged, some permanent teachers were pulled out from their respective stations and replaced with Teacher Aid Volunteers.

Some have claimed that a number of qualified teachers have not been given items.

An item given to a teacher indicates that she is qualified to teach and has been hired.

Delos Reyes referred the teachers to Talisay City legal officer Alfredo Sipalay.

The former city administrator allegedly hired new TAVs last June when the terms of the past administration was almost over.

Sipalay said the TAVs replaced the permanent teacher or teachers who have items.

Sipalay has demanded that DepEd Superintendent Woodrow Denuyo pull out the TAVs who have replaced the permanent teachers because they were midnight appointees.

Sipalay explained that the appointment violated the rules that governed the election ban.

Meanwhile, the teachers are bent on filing a civil case against Denuyo.
