In Talisay, rock rolls down, rests on man’s house

CEBU, Philippines - A sitio Tiguib, barangay Lagtang, Talisay City resident, whose house was damaged by a rock that rested on its roof after rolling down from high ground last Friday afternoon, yesterday asked city Councilor Danny Caballero to facilitate the immediate release of his financial assistance from the city social welfare.

Ronald Abatayo, 32, told Caballero nobody was hurt because as it happened, his live-in partner Lilit Pintor was doing laundry somewhere else, their two young children, aged two and four years old, were at a cousin’s house, while their eldest child was in school.

He said his family cannot get some sleep with a rock on their roof.

He said he had asked help from their barangay but was referred to CSWD.

Caballero who went to Abatayo’s place yesterday afternoon said he will talk to Mayor Socrates Fernandez to urge him to find a place for the residents.

CSWD head Felipa Solana told The Freeman she will check if the P3,000 in financial assistance to Abatayo had already released.  (FREEMAN)
