CEBU, Philippines - Talisay DepEd Superintendent Woodrow Denuyo said close to 500 students from the private elementary and high schools showed up for class yesterday.

Denuyo said this year, about 155 private school students had enrolled in public elementary schools, while about 107 had moved to the high school level.

As of June 7, 43,167 students have officially enrolled in Talisay City’s public elementary and secondary schools.

Denuyo said about 31,900 students enrolled in the elementary and kindergarten levels, slightly higher than last year’s enrollment rate of 32,104.

But in the secondary levels, only 11,267 students officially enrolled this year, which is slightly lower than last year’s 11, 558.

Denuyo also said the DepEd is meeting parents to find out whether their children had really enrolled this year.  (FREEMAN)
