X-ray that failed to work angers plane passengers

Jose P. Sollano - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Hundreds of plane passengers lined up yesterday morning for manual inspection at the Mactan Cebu International Airport, which drew out murmurs and downright complaints, vis-à-vis an x-ray machine that failed to work.

The Freeman received text messages from passengers bound for Manila who complained about the inconvenience.

A former mayor of a Bohol town wasn’t happy at all.

“Its been long overdue. Guba daw ang ilang usa ka x-ray. Pwerteng taasa sa linya ug hassle sa mga passengers ganiha. They should have found a solution or i-manual nila ang pag-check sa bags sa pikas side. What’s worse, mao ra gihapon ilang gibuhat na nagbagolbol ug uneasy na ang mga pasahero ganiha. Grabe ka samok ganiha sa airport,” the former town official, in a text message to The Freeman, said.

Mary Ann Dimabayao, officer-in-charge of the MCIAA Public Affairs Office said the x-ray machine at the departure area has stopped working.

Dimabayao said the inspection inconvenienced people because of  the number of passengers.

However, she said the airport is looking for a solution.  (FREEMAN)
