Pelaez files petition at Comelec-Manila

CEBU, Philippines - Lapu-Lapu City LP mayoralty candidate Efrain Pelaez who lost the midterm election yesterday filed a petition in Comelec Manila for disqualification and recall of the proclamation re-elected Mayor Paz Radaza to COMELEC Office Manila.

Pelaez in his petition seeks to secure election materials and records used in Lapu-Lapu City, to nullify returns from barangays Basak, Mactan, Punta Engaño, and other 11 barangays, covering 64 clustered precincts; and more barangays that will be found during the hearing, and to declare the proclamation of Mayor Radaza and her entire slate as unlawful, illegal, null and void and to declare Pelaez as the duly elected mayor of the city of Lapu-Lapu.

Radaza welcomes the move and challenges Pelaez to file more cases.  (FREEMAN)
