Cabahug wharf reopens

Flor Z. Perolina - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Cabahug wharf in barangay Looc, Mandaue City is now operational after the boat that capsized in its seawaters two months ago has been towed 200 meters towards the Mactan Channel from where it was by Uni Pearl Orient Incorporated.

Winiel Azcuna, head of the Philippine Coastguard, said MV Maria Angelica still needs to be refloated in the deeper portion of the channel since the seawaters surrounding the Cabahug wharf is too shallow to attempt to refloat it.

“It is deep enough to turn the capsized vessel over,” Azcuna said.

Last Monday ships started to dock at the Cabahug wharf.

Recovered items are in the custody of the salvor company and making an inventory.  (FREEMAN)
