Paz to file counter-suit vs. Pelaez

CEBU, Philippines - Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza, who has just won a fresh mandate, has vowed to file counter charges against losing mayoralty candidate Efrain Pelaez.

Radaza said the allegation made by Pelaez about vote buying committed by her camp are all lies.

Pelaez said he has photos to prove that the Radaza camp distributed sample ballots with P500 inserted in them.

“Klaro kaayong namasangil ra na sila. Among supporter giduol sa iyang tawo (referring to Pelaez) ug gihulman ang sample ballot ug gi-stapleran og P500, unya gipicturan dayon,” Radaza said during a press conference.

Earlier, the Pelaez camp vowed to file charges against Radaza’s Deretso for massive vote-buying.

Before Radaza and her slate for councilor were proclaimed winners in the elections last Tuesday afternoon, some of Pelaez’s fellow losing candidates tried to start a protest in an attempt to stop the proclamation.  (FREEMAN)
