Man figures in road accident, arrested for gun possession

CEBU, Philippines - The police arrested a man who figured in a road accident Thursday for possessing a gun in sitio Kalmar, barangay Lawaan II, Talisay City.

Loreto Abanto, of barangay Lawaan I, Talisay City, sustained injuries when his motorcycle was sideswiped by another vehicle.

Abanto was immediately brought to Talisay City District Hospital but transferred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center with two police escorts.

The police are checking his background.   

In another development, a Korean national went to the Talisay City Police Station Thursday evening to report the loss of his expensive phone at a fastfood outlet in barangay Tabunok.

Cha Min Ho, 27, of barangay Bulacao, Talisay lost his Samsung Galaxy Note worth P36,000.

Ho said he was drinking with friends at this outlet when four youngsters approached his group.

When the youngsters left, he noticed his phone already missing.  (FREEMAN)
