Former town official engaged in illegal mining?

CEBU, Philippines - Is a former town official mining limestone in a mountain barangay in Consolacion town without government’s permission?

The report has alarmed Mayor Teresa Alegado and other town officials who immediately informed the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources.

Mining of limestone in other barangays are continuing in the town but these extractions are licensed, she said.

She said this former town official is engaged in the same business but cannot show a permit for it.

Alegado claimed the former town official is using someone’s else’s permit to mine a particular area.

“Murag ang gihimo nila mao ang paglipat-lipat sa PENRO,” Alegado said.  (FREEMAN)
