Talisay cops see peaceful Holy Week

Garry B. Lao - The Freeman

Cebu, Philippines -  Authorities in Talisay City have assured the public that the observance of this year’s Lenten season would be peaceful and safe.

Talisay City Police Station chief Superintendent Elmer Lim said the police are prepared for the influx of devotees to various churches and other religious destinations during the Holy Week.

The police will be visible in churches and checkpoints will be set up as part of the security preparations for the Lenten season.

They will also set up Police Assistance Centers so that the public can easily keep in touch with the police in the area when needed, he noted.

Earlier, Philippine National Police director general Alan Purisima ordered all policemen nationwide to implement a security plan for the Lenten season and summer vacation.

The plan would complement contingency measures for the elections.  (FREEMAN)
