Talisay official suggests allocation for ambulance

Garry B. Lao - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Since the Talisay District Hospital’s ambulance regularly transports patients from Talisay City District Hospital to Vicente Sotto Hospital and vice-versa, Talisay City opposition Councilor Valeriano Ylanan has proposed the inclusion of an allocation for fuel and maintenance in the 2013 budget.

“The majority of patients who are transported by the ambulance belong to the less fortunate of Talisay City residents. These patients are charged more or less than three hundred pesos for the use of the ambulance,” Ylanan said.

According to Ylanan, the money of patients used to pay for the use of the ambulance could better be used by these patients to buy medicines.

“It is the belief of the proponent that the less fortunate in our society should be given more in terms of service and financial assistance; that patients transported by Talisay City District Hospital Ambulance should not be charged for its use, and the service should be for free,” he said.
