CEBU, Philippines - The Aboitiz Foundation yesterday turned over to Lapu-Lapu City a newly refurbished Pediatrics and OB-Gyne wards of the city hospital.

Present during the turnover were Mayor Paz Radaza, Augusto Carpio III, executive vice president and managing trustee of the Aboitiz Foundation, Incorporated, hospital chief Dr. Bolivar Miñoza, Jr., and City School Division Superintendent Eduardo Ompad.

The foundation also turned over 17 hospitals beds, 17 bassinets, and 13 ceiling fans.

Radaza thanked the foundation for its assistance extended to the city government.

Radaza said the city government lacks funds to finance the improvement of the hospital.

The foundation spent close to P5 million for the project, with the city pitching in.

Radaza said the public-private partnership allows the city to provide quality service to the people.

"I am grateful to the Aboitiz Foundation and to Mr. Augusto P.I. Carpio III, for their trust and support," Radaza said.

Carpio, on the other hand, said the Aboitiz Foundation believes that it can provide help to the Cebuanos through education and health.

He said the foundation has lined up several projects not only in Lapu-Lapu City but also in other big cities and municipalities in Cebu province.

He assured city officials of Lapu-Lapu that despite the Aboitiz's transfer to Manila by June this year, the foundation will continue its programs for the Cebuanos.

For his part, Dr. Miñoza thanked the foundation for its help.

“Hayahay na kaayo ang atong mga ginikanan nga madala sa atong tambalanan ug magpasalamat kita sa Aboitiz Foundation, Inc.,” said Minoza. (FREEMAN)
