Comelec in San Fernando calm despite poor radio signal

Brenda Batuto - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Seven mountain barangays in San Fernando town suffer from poor telecommunication signals, but the town’s Comelec officer, Rudy Gilos, is not worried.

Gilos said the barangays affected include Ilaya, Balungag, Tubod, Bugho, Cabatbatan, Tinubdan, and Magsiko.

He said Comelec can use a Broadband Global Area Network for transmission of election results.

He said the Comelec is prepared for the May 2013 elections.

Last Thursday, representatives of the homegrown political party Alayon and Liberal Party attended a seminar workshop initiated by the town’s chief of police, Inspector Gerard Ace Pelare.

But Vice Mayor Miko Canoy of the Liberal Party said he appreciates the holding of the seminar workshop and willing to sign a peace covenant with opponents.

Gilos said Comelec treats all candidates equally.  (FREEMAN)
