In Lapu-Lapu City: Comelec assigns 20 common poster areas
CEBU, Philippines - The Commission on Elections in Lapu-Lapu City has designated 20 common poster areas for all candidates vying for positions in the May elections.
Election Officer Ann Janette Chua Hu-Lamban said she has already disseminated information to candidates as regards the Comelec’s implementing rules.
She said that there are only 20 designated common poster areas in the city.
These common poster areas are in Marina Mall, Takan-Buaya runway, near the Mactan Shrine, Datag-Maribago crossing, the street corner of the Sacred Heart Church in barangay Marigondon, the crossing at Bankal-Pajac (rotunda), in front of MEPZ2 Basak, the crossing at Gun-ob and Basak, the crossing in Gun-ob/Looc and Canjulao, beside the Poblacion basketball court, beside the Philippine Savings Bank, near the Mandaue Mactan Bridge (Menzi side), the skywalk in front of the city hall compound, sitio Toril in barangay Canjulao, barangay Agus crossing, corner of Fuentes Road in Pajac, boundary between barangays Buaya and Mactan, at the corner of the Marcelo Fernan Bridge (Pusok area), in front of the Talima Mini City Hall, and Santa Rosa port in Olango island.
Candidates can also use the plaza and the public markets of the island brgys while candidates can also use some private areas provided they seek permission from its owners.
“That the size of the poster areas shall not exceed twelve (12) by sixteen (16) feet or its equivalent,†a provision of the section 9, RA 9006 or the Fair Election Act.
The election officer said that her personnel is really bent to tear down election campaign materials if ever they violated the common posters area. (FREEMAN)
