Talisay police on their toes

CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City Police Station officer-in-charge, Superintendent Elmer Lim, who has been on the job for more than a month now, hopes peace and order in the city will continue to improve in the coming months.

Lim said the police set up check points in streets every day in a bid to combat crime.

In the first week of February this year Shundave Villarosa alias “Shundave Oyon-oyon” and “Japjap” and Jose Rolando Coronel of Talisay City were arrested after a brief chase for allegedly robbing a Shell gasoline station in barangay Lawaan III, Talisay City.

Last Sunday, four more suspected robbers were arrested, namely, Crispin Manondo, Reynante Otero, Cris Abarcas, and Geovani Diamantes.

On the other hand, a group of men robbed four person in barangay San Isidro, Talisay, two of them minors.

One of the suspects was a certain Rolly Molero, who is still in hiding.

Last February 13, two suspected car thieves were arrested.

Arrested were Jimbo Serano and Noli Gomez of UP Lot in barangay Lawaan I, Talisay.

The two allegedly took the tricycle for hire that was rented by their neighbor Carlito Bendanillo.

According to Lim, most of the suspects are boys from the city who are allegedly drug users and with no visible means of livelihood.  (FREEMAN)
