Inmate, girlfriend to marry inside jail
CEBU, Philippines - A Talisay City Jail inmate who is facing murder charges and his girlfriend will get married inside the jail in barangay Maghaway this Sunday.
SJO4 German Sanguensa said Mark Joseph Balaga, 26, of Cabalan Street in barangay Poblacion, Talisay City informed warden Chief Inspector Gil Inopia last February 3 about his plans to get hitched.
Balaga was sent to the jail last September 17, and since then his girlfriend has been visiting him.
Mayor Socrates Fernandez will perform the marriage ceremony.
Balaga is only the second inmate to get married inside the jail.
In 2007, a couple detained at the jail for alleged involvement in illegal drugs tied the knot.
Prior to the marriage, the couple had been living together and already had children. (FREEMAN)
