CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-Lapu City Police Office has created a group of bicycle cops to go after lawless elements in the interior areas of the city.

City police director Sr. Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas said the group is composed of 50 bicycle cops who underwent trainings on “Basic Bicycle Patrol Course”.

Lawas said the team trained under the experts from San Francisco, California police department. According to Lawas, the team finished yesterday the two-day training on the operational strategy and technique in bike patrol.

“Tudloan sad ni sila nga magbisikleta samtang monaog og hagdanan. (They were taught how to go downstairs riding bicycles),” Lawas adds.

According to Lawas, the bicycle cops will patrol in areas that four-wheel vehicles could not maneuver. The team’s creation was also in compliance with the directives from Camp Crame.

Recently, the LLCPO received 10 bicycles donated by the Korean community in the city.— (FREEMAN)
