CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-Lapu City government has lauded Police Chief Inspector Conrado Manatad and the rest of Police Station 2 for the arrest of a man wanted for murder and frustrated murder.

As this developed, the informant who provided information that led to the arrest of Demetrio Malingin, Jr., of barangay Mactan, received P50,000 reward.

Lapu-Lapu City Police Chief Senior Superintendent Rey Lyndon Lawas said support from the public led to Malingin’s arrest.

He expressed his gratitude to the informer, who is alleged to be a woman.

Manatad said Malingin was also involved in illegal drugs.

The arrest warrants were issued by Lapu-Lapu Regional Trial Court Presiding Judge Victor Teves of Branch 54.

Malingin was wounded as he allegedly tried to escape by engaging the police in a shootout.

He was wearing a bullet proof vest.

Police seized two loaded .45 caliber pistols, and shabu which was estimated to fetch P135,000 in the streets.

Malingin and his brothers, Jay and Deo, are accused of killing Prima Paquibot. The two brothers are still at large.

Police said Deo Malingin acted as lookout while his brothers Demetrio and Jay Malingin strafed the house of Jay Aying, killing his wife Prima.

Demetrio is also accused of killing Jay Aying’s brother, Roy, last year. (FREEMAN)
