Samsam, Eddiegul to help party mates
CEBU, Philippines - Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas assured his Alayon party mates he and his grandfather Rep. Eduardo Gullas will campaign hard for them.
Gerald Gullas will run for Congress in the first district unopposed.
He said he has to reach out to people, especially to the mayors, vice mayors, city and municipal councilors, and barangay officials so that when he assumes office, he can serve the district well.
He is also thankful there are no rivalry among his family.
“Families lust for power, mag-away na hinuon bisan og pamilya. For me, that’s the worst thing and I’ll never do anything like that nga mag-away ang pamilya para lang sa position or something. That’s the worst part nga akong makit- an, ang family members, uncles, brothers magkontra lang para sa barangay, sa councilor o mayor, that’s the worst thing for me,” Gullas said.
Samsam said he will spend New Year’s Day with his family.
The young Gullas lamented the situation occurring at the provincial Capitol where embattled Governor Gwendolyn Garcia has been holed up since she was suspended from office last December 18.
“A remarkable person gyud na si Gov. Gwen and you can feel sad on what happened to her,” Gullas said.
“I really feel that suspension is part of the hazards of leadership and as a leader and especially what Gov. Gwen is doing now, you have to be prepared for the worst. And now she is fighting back and I really hope and pray that justice will prevail,” he said.
Gullas said what is happening to the governor can happen to any leader.
“Ang nahitabo ni Governor Garcia puwede usab nga mahitabo nga bisan kinsa nga politiko. I should be ready for it as I said that’s part of the hazard of leadership, I should be ready for it. But I really hope that with a good performance, I hope nothing like that will happen to me. I really want to perform well,” he said. (FREEMAN)
