2 zapped dead in separate incidents

CEBU, Philippines -  Two men were killed in electrocution incidents while two other people were injured after they figured in separate odd accidents recently.

Marlou Borba, an 18-year-old farmer, was electrocuted Friday morning after touching an electric post in Barangay Sirao, Cebu City.

Borba, a resident of the place, reportedly just finished taking a bath and walked on a pathway in Sitio Tawagan when he touched a live wire of an electrical post.

The victim was electrocuted and fell to the ground.  He was rushed by his family to the Guba Emergency Hospital for treatment but the doctor declared him dead on arrival.

Last Friday dawn in Barangay Cubacub, Mandaue City, a factory worker was killed after he was electrocuted while at work.

Avelino Dayanan, 57, of Aloguinsan town, Cebu, was already declared dead on arrival when brought to the Eversley Hospital and Sanitarium.

Operatives of the Canduman Police Station immediately rushed to the Lucky Tableware Factory along H. Abellana St. in Barangay Cubacub after Hilton Sy, the construction head of the said factory, reported the accident to the police.

It was learned from the victim’s co-worker Randel Arellano, 18, that the victim was carrying a galvanized iron sheet to cover some coconut shells outside the factory at the time.  While he was carrying the GI sheet it accidentally touched a live wire and he was electrocuted. 

Meanwhile, a 14-year-old boy was seriously injured in the eye after he tried to light some firecrackers shortly before Christmas Eve in Barangay Campo, Minglanilla town.

Victim John Klesel Gabiana was treated at the hospital for days until he became safe from danger. His parents reported the incident to the police only yesterday.

The victim reportedly tried to light a firecracker called a “hotdog” outside their house but it did not explode.  After a few minutes he went to retrieve it from inside a can and covered it with stones when it suddenly went off. (FREEMAN)
